ba.doque (adjective) 1. A Malay colloquial slang for eat 2. Pronounciation [ba-dok]. We set up BADOQUE with a little help from family and friends, a smile from lady luck and some good old fashioned elbow grease. Our vision is to create a real and wholesome alternative to high street homogeny and to provide a relaxed environment where food can be enjoyed.

Haiz…that was a good lunch crowd. Sundays la nak dikatakan. And the weather isn’t helping either. Ya Allah! The heat to me is very masyhar lor.As if i experienced it. On a random note, I broke a nail while hovering over the bar counter.

For all those who did not read the previous entry. I am the fairy god mother, who decided to fill her time blogging for this green space in Simpang Bedok. If you’re wondering who i am, let’s imagine this – : I’m a cross between Jorah Ahmad and Sarimah, the legendary actress with butterfly wings and gucci shades. My everyday wear is ofcourse the ever famous, baju butterfly with batik motifs.

On a serious note. I would like to take on another point. ”Comparing” Honestly its simply human nature to compare. And a bigger daring note i would like to point is the disease of the P.M.Y.B.S ( Penyakit Melayu Yang Busuk Sekalicixrious ) Oh boy! I really don’t know where to begin.

Coming back to “Comparing”….who doesn’t la kan. “I would rather pakai benda ni rather than that, because its cheaper and looks better on me anytime” or “dari kita makan sini..lebih baik kita makan sana, its cheaper and they don’t have service charge mak” These are just some usual examples, you would hear someone saying.

While hovering over diners, you would often see this to be honest while the service staff waits aside. You would often see one customer not being happy about something (which customer tak la kan?) So the waiter or waiteress walks towards the customer to see if everything was ok, and the customer smiles and says with a fake smile ” Yes dear, everything is ok ” and when he or she walks off, you bitch and bitch like theres no tomorrow.

Lesson No.1 of Penyakit Melayu Yang Busok Sekali

If youre not happy with your food. Say Something earlier, so that the staff would be able to assist you further with an exchange. Don’t just keep quiet, and force yourself to finish a meal that you dislike, and then bitch about it like you’re a guest star being interviewed,in a woman’s tv programme like NONA. You are not Sharifah Aini pleading for mercy from the media just because you throw yourself into a longkang.

Establishments would gladly assist you in any way they can to give you a pleasant dining experience. So its really okay, and “tak payah nak jaga hati orang” which is another malay disease that i would like to cover on another day. It’s a wake up call for the community that thinks, western food is only fish and chips and steaks with no done-ness.

Its about time that you should realise that ,there are establishments that would like to offer you more than ROTI JOHN KING and MEE OPEH.You should try other halal outlets for a change that gives you ambience and good music, rather than the smoke from hot plates that coffee shops try to impress their customers with. As the fairy god mother has to do her asar, she would like to leave you with a quote of the day.

MaQata “life is not just about fish and chips and deep fried goods layered with tons of mayonaise”

P.S – If your dish has prawns. Tolong jangan request for it to be peeled. You make yourself look really bad i tell ya

Toodles
